Our Story

Hi there! I'm Nicole, the founder of the SHADY Driving Sunscarf.      

Over recent years, I’ve become increasingly aware of sun exposure while driving each day.  Between commuting to work, shuttling my kids to school and sports, running errands and visiting family and friends, my sun exposure while driving really adds up.  

Statistics show Australians spend an average of 55 minutes in the car daily, yet most of us don’t wear sunscreen during this time.  

Our reasons vary; it feels greasy, the trip is short, we're dressed for work or the windows are rolled up.  

The idea for SHADY was born when I read that research studies have consistently linked between 50%-75% of skin cancers to sun exposure while driving.     Front windscreens block most UV rays, but side and rear windows can allow as much as 79% of UVA radiation when closed….and a full 100% of UVA and UVB rays when rolled down.  So, I decided to create something specific for the driving occasion.
